As some extra research into specific elements of my documentary, such as interviews, location shots, background music, ect. I have been watching several mini productions on youtube similar to what I aim to create. Despite being short they still obtain the sense of gaining insight into a particular rider or trainers job or background.
Doing such research has also allowed me to gain insight into the conventions of creating a mini documentary about horses and the way it is shot
After reviewing this series of extracts I have come to appreciate the importance of the introduction of this genre of documentary, especially when it is an extract or mini production. It influences the audience's initial impression, as well as establishing the location and nature of the documentary. This proved a particularly important aspect when creating an extract based on a particular rider, trainer or show team, as it not only introduces them as a character to the audience, but also if the production is based on their yard at home, this helps to establish the location as well as the nature of the documentary. Moreover the music to which the footage is edited is also of great relevance as this has a strong impact on the tone of the documentary and also engaging the audience.
